Can I feed my piggies regular farm hay?

The reason I ask is getting bale of normal, basic American farm hay thats 50lb is $12 from local farms but the store is $20 and less!

Is it safe? Can piggies hav diffent hay besides Timmy and alfalfa?

Yes, they can. Really they shouldn't be having alfalfa on a regular basis especially not as adults though. Most forum members feed timothy and/or meadow hay.

My guinea pigs always have regular hay from the farm in a field bale that costs me £5. Last time I went to the farm they had run out so I am having to source from pet shops. I don't like it though as it is far more expensive and an inferior quality to what my piggies are used to which is the best green organic honey smelling hay. They aren't too keen on the shop bought stuff but I can't get anything else atm.

Yes, some do blend types together so Timothy and orchard for example, which are both fine, just make sure it's not blended with alfalfa/Lucerne. Make sure you ask to inspect the bale too, if it smells musty, don't buy it, it should smell sweet and fresh. Dig your fingers into it too to make sure it's not damp inside, damp = mould growth. Giving it a bit of a slap will show if there's loads of dust in it so is worth doing as long as you don't mind looking a bit strange
