There's loads of this herb growing in my garden. My rabbits like to eat it and have been eating it for about a year with no ill effects. Was wondering if its safe for piggies? Locally we call it "ulam" but I think its also known as pegaga and its eaten raw by the locals for good health.

I do not recognise this, but as the buns are o.k. with it and it is a herb,it is probably safe.Just give the piggies a very small amount to start with.

Maybe another forum member knows what the plant is.

Thanks for the link! Picture wise it looks more like

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydrocotyle_umbellata , another plant from the same family.

From wiki they are all from the pennywort family, not known to be poisonous, in fact said to be good for health(for humans generally)....I think I can try a little on my piggies and see how it goes :)

I just googled it and it says the young leaves are fine for eating....
you know to be safe i'd take some to your local nursery and get them to confirm what it is first O0

I wouldnt feed it until you know for sure you can :)

Its not worth the risk when there are so many other things they can eat that are definately safe O0
