Hi everyone!
I am a total piggie newbie and have only been a guinea pig dad for about a month. I’ve researched A LOT about their diet, and I read that it’s okay to feed them lettuce on the daily. But then I read that Romaine shouldn’t be fed daily, is this true? Can I still feed my pigs frisée lettuce every day? Or should lettuce not be fed daily at all? I’m so worried to make mistakes with my pigs! :(

Little gem lettuce goes down well too usually. My 3 girls enjoy it. Although they normally sniff out any pepper, cucumber or tomato first!

I give my piggies romaine/sweet gem lettuce everyday. Although there are times that they wouldn't eat it and prefer their other food. Just make sure you are not feeding them too much of it.

I feed leaf lettuce daily so yes lettuce can be fed daily, but no Iceburg. Lettuce is actually a great source for vitamin C, but it should not be the only veggie you give them. Frisee and romaine can be given daily, but keep in mind both can cause calcium deposits. Not all piggies will get them. You can experiment and see what is best for your guinea pigs

Well I put some basil in their bowl this morning and they went straight for the pepper! In fact Toffee couldn't get back to her corner quick enough when she got her bit!

Will see if the basil has gone when I get home.

Finn and Lara love romaine lettuce and they get this everyday, two leaves of them each. Romaine lettuce is replaced by baby spring lettuce every week.
They also get cilantro, parsley, basil, cat grass, and right now dandelion leaves because I got them from the yard.
Fruits are given with care like 3-4 times a week due to its sugar content.
I give them half of baby carrot daily because someone here said not to give too much carrots. So, Finna and Lara share one baby carrot daily.

Avoid iceberg lettuce like the plague. I only feed romaine every now and then. I do a mix of little gem, red gem, round leaf and curly leaf... something different each day. You can get most of these in aldi. I also get the mixed leaf lettuce bag from aldi. Mine have lettuce every day
