I thought I’ve had a cold but turns out I’ve had a sinus infection for 11 days now. I’ve been thoroughly and consistently been washing my hands before feeding/interacting with the piggies. I’ve been so paranoid even if I breathe through my nose that I would contaminate their stuff. My main question is can they catch this? My doctor believes I’m not contagious at this stage, but I’m still super paranoid.

Normally a human old or flu is not contagious. If there was a problem with yours, you would have long known because the very few episodal reports of a human virus ptoentially crossing over have always resulted in an instant next day reaction. ;)

Bacterial sinus infections don't seem to jump as they are not the same bacteria that cause UTI.

Please take deep breath, relax and look after yourself!

PS: I have found that inhaling evenings and mornings before going to bed and after getting up did help me best in the decade I had a chronic sinusitis. It never transmitted to any guinea pigs even though I'd been living with a more less constant cold as a result. ;)

I’ve got a terrible cold right now too, they’re horrible 👎🏻

I was wondering the opposite actually, Blod has a URI mostly in her throat and on friday night I kissed her on the nose for being a good girl at the vet and taking her baytril and today I woke up with a sore throat and earache! I dont mind if I have a piggy disease though I'd be much more worried if I could make them sick...

Thank you for easing my worries :)
