Hi,

I joined about a year ago when I rescued Sophie and Honey from Preloved.

Over the year they have been ok, never especially friendly but always shiny and had good appetities. Both girls, about a year and half old now.

I just want to check the routine I have is ok?

Their cage is a little small, but the big one i bought absolutely killed my back so I couldn't use it, they get run time most days (two of those rainbow coloured hamster runs hooked together and only don't get a run if I am out) and live on hay and woodshavings.

THey have a mixture of Gertie guinea pig and wagg dried food and get a selection of vegetables each night. 5 from the following

Salad lettuce
herb salad
Spinach
tomatoes
carrots
sprouts
cabbage
celery
parsley

Sophie is fat bascially and honey is maybe two thirds of her size. they spend a lot of time huffing at each other and being grumpy. They don't cuddle up together. Sophie sleeps above the hay and Honey hides a lot of the time. I can handle both of them and get cut their nails and stuff, Sophie squeaks loads honey is generally frightened.

I just wondered if any one had any suggestions? Am I doing it right?

thanks

xx

From what you have said it sounds to me like you are doing absolutely everything right :)

Our four get their brekkie in the morning and we try and give them a different veg at teatime so they get a good selection, they always have plenty hay and pellets/muesli and of course water. They have to take it in turns to have floor time as we have a lady piggy and two of our three boys have not been neutered x

Thank you. I just worry they don't seem very happy? or inquistive? They do like their food but it does cross my mind that Honey is having a rubbish time. She is always so freaked out.

but their diet is generally ok?

xx

None of my girls cuddle up together either. They all have their own hidey spaces - Boris usually bunks in with one of them - he's not fussy which rolleyes, but the two other girls will sleep alone

When I just had two girls (we now have three and a neutered boy) they never slept together. I think Willow would've sometimes liked to but, like yours, Pippa can be grumbly when she wants and used to complain if Willow got too close.

Your girls sound much like mine :)

that makes me feel a bit better, although I think it will upset me that they don't like each other much!

thanks

Xx

As the others said all sounds good. They may be slightly more grumpy due to the smaller cage but I know what you mean about the bigger cages.

What are their weights? If one is much smaller could the bigger one to stopping her eating?
