Can they ever live together again?

Hi all,
My 2 boars have lived togther for about 2 and a bit years peacefully. They were both neutered when they were young, they have been togther since one was 6weeks and the other 4weeks.
On monday Mylo had a operation to remove a nasty absess on his back. Stitch (other pig) went to the vets with him and waited for him after op. Once Mylo had come round from the anesthetic Stitch cuddled in to keep him warm. That night they were kept separate but could smell, touch and see through the bars.
Tuesday lunchtime, they were put back together no problem, but later that evening I noticed some blood on Stitch's mouth (and no not belonging to the stiches on Mylos back)! They got to run around a familiar space together. They started teeth chattering, circiling each other, Stitch trying to mount Mylo and they now cannot be left together and I have separate the cage with Mesh!

Can anyone help?8...

The trouble is that Mylo will smell different - he'll smell of vets and antisceptic, so Stitch might not recognise him. Once he is able to do so, it might be worth bathing them together so they both smell neutral again, then reinotroduce them on neutral territory, with 2 of everything - 2 food bowls etc.

Hope they're ok

Sophie

Hi there,
Things have not been much better over the last few days. today I have bathed them and what a miracl (so far) 50 minutes and only ever so slight teeth chattering (i think more-who are you / dominance).

Has anyone ever heard of or tried putting Vasaline / Vicks on piggies noses?
I havnt tried. Just wondered if anyone had heard of it. It (supposedly works by blocking the smelling sense of each other?@)

I have put Vicks on a piggie's nose when it had a stuffy nose from dusty hay, but I wouldn't recommend it for the sake of disguising piggie's body smell.

They need to build up a common "the tribe is us" smell again, and vicks won't help with that.
