Reading the health and illness section on here really makes me want to make sure if the time comes I can afford to give my piggies any treatment they need.

Anyone know good insurers and how much?

the last time my girls went to the vet it was only £16 including treatment for a skin condition not long after I got them, but I know bills can get much higher, especially for emergencies etc.:red

There are only one or two exotic pet insurers, google guinea pig insurance and they will come up. I have ten piggies and my quote was £880 for a year :o, for one or two it will be a lot less.

i didnt think you coudl get isurance for piggies, rabbits are a bit easier but piggies i thought was imposible, would this cover excotic bird such as love birds?

its not worth it - the excesses are usually higher than actual treatment in most cases, so majority of the tiem you still have to pay for the treatment, unless its big surgery. its cheaper to save the money you would pay for that a month into a small saver account (albeit intrest rates are rubbish you will still be better off!)

dont waste your money

Thats what I do, I have a cash ISA and I pay into it every month.

this is what i have started to do cos i looked into insurance too, * have to pay around £45 excess and most treatments come to less than that so i would just save some money every month in case of emergency!

I had a quote for insurance for 5 pigs and it would be £399 a year ... I have a Lloyds save the change account that I use to save up for bits and bobs like vets bills and other piggy bits :)
