I am soon going to be a dopting a 4 year old piggy and while I have cared for old pigs before is there anything I shuld take into consideration or can do for him to make is like as comfy as possible. He will be living indoors.

O0awwww well done he is going to be one happy piggy I have no idea what to suggest hopefully some one on here will have some good advice!

I would say that 4 isnt so old and he might well still have a lot of energy left in him.
At this age he has lived a bit so might be more wary of you / his new surroundings so this should be a consideration. You dont say much about where you are getting him from or his former circumstances but give him space and time to adjust and he should be fine

Nice one. O0
I thought guinea pigs lived to between 6 and 8.
If so, he may double his age.
Love and cuddles, what more could a piggie ask for.
Good luck
Anne. :)

I have to admit Sweep has settled in here in no time at all.I was told he was 4 but who knows he could be older.
He is able to walk much better now and had a good explore of the sitting room last night. He is managing to eat his dried food and some veggies but he will eat fresh cut grass like there is no tomorrow ::)
He is definatly a much happier piggy on his own as the Boar he was in with was bullying him and because he was a slow eater with his teeth he wasnt getting a chance to eat the tasty veggies.
All I can say it take it slow with him and he will get to trust you but he loves being nursed and handled. Thanks again for offering this special little lad a home

Thanks, its an honour.

Sounds like he's doing well. I bought a couple of grass plants from the pet shop and my two piggies love them. Looks like I will be needing a few more for Sweep. Thats the first thing to add to the shoppping list.

He will get lots of TLC and time out of his cage, during the day when I am in I will have hime in the lounge wth me as much as possible and I will hive him as much time as he needs to get his paws under thetable.

Obviously I will need to register him at the vets as soon as I get him.

My Sammy is now 5 1/2 and gets the same care as the other three. He's much more laid-back than they are and doesn't run about as much during floor time, but he loves his food and still climbs up the cage bars as high as the others and wheeks just as loudly! ;D
He particularly enjoys being on a lap, with or without his best friend Roo.
