I just had to share :))

One of my girls had to have a large cyst removed from her belly yesterday after it had become ulcerated (she has loads of lumps and this is the third to be removed). She's a tough girl and came out of the op absolutely fine and starving hungry and eating for England!

Her friend went with her to the vets and they just stayed inside in our living room for observation last night and I have just put them in their purposebuilt shed with the others (usually I would not put her back for a day or two but she is a terrible patient and if left indoors she will chew her stitches and pine so she is better off back to normal asap).

So I put them both back in their C&C and all the guineas went frantic with excitement! They have so obviously missed them both! One of the younger sows just cleaned and cleaned the one who had been operated on. The old boy who is head of the herd and a heart pig, then went cavorting around the cage popcorning like he was a baby again! (its the most exercise I have seen him do in years!). I knew they had been missing them as they were all so quiet yesterday.

Sorry just had to share, they are just such lovely social animals are'nt they? A pleasure to own and watch.x)

Thank you, its so lovely when they all get on. I think its the age mix, 2x 7 months, 2x 3 years (approx) and two at 6 years. I just think its a nice balanced mix with lovely personalities. Lets hope it'll last!

x

I wish your girl a speedy recovery!

Mine always know when somepig is ill, and they are lots of cuddles when we have a reunion if I take a piggy on meds (plus companion) with me when we are away for a weekend.

She is doing absolutely fine, in fact you would never know she had had an op yesterday! Just waiting for the lab reports on the cyst but I suspect it will like the others and just fatty lumps.

They are incredibly sociable creatures are'nt they? I have to say that having a small herd (6) has been so rewarding, best thing I ever did as it brings out their natural instinct more and you get to see how they socialise and interact in a group. Fascinating and enlightening. We humans have a lot to learn from them....although don't tell the guineas I said that as their heads will get too big ! rolleyes x

Awww that is lovely! Glad the op went well. Wishing her a speedy recovery! x
