Jerrybelly
Senior Guinea Pig
This is probably a very daft question...
My piggies get carrots twice a week, but I've never thought to buy them with the bushy tops. I've heard that piggies love them, so I'm going to give them a try. One of my boys is on a very low calcium diet, so I'm incredibly weary about what I give him. I know that carrots are relatively low in calcium, but are the tops too? I can't find any information about the calcium content of the tops, only the root.
I give various kinds of lettuce each day as the green 'leafy' part of their diet (again, I'm terrified about giving kale etc.) so I was wondering whether it would be OK to give the carrot tops as an alternative to lettuce on some days.
I also don't know how much would be a suitable portion? Would the bushy top off one carrot be too much for one pig?
