It breaks my heart to have to write another one of these so soon after the first, but sadly I lost my beautiful boy Casper today, aged 2 1/2. The full story is on this thread: http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=87633 but the basics is that Casper had been fighting a mild URI for a few days. Last night he had a stroke, and got very stressed out. He couldn't balance, walk straight, swallow or hold himself up right. He was treated by the vet and made it through the night, but this morning he had just collapsed and was struggling to breathe. He passed away in my arms this morning and it absolutely broke my heart. 8...8...8...

I am so sorry that Caspar didn't it. What a sad shock for you! It is tough when you lose pets very close together.

Thank you everyone, he was very much loved right until the end. I had to cuddle him, and right at the end before he passed he looked right at me and almost blinked, as if to say 'I love you'. It hurts so much to have it happen that way, but at least I know he is resting now. x

I'd been so hoping he'd pull thru for you........ only just got on to check and saw your post....my heart sank for you :0 I'm glad tho that you were with him until the end, he'll be looking down and sending you piggie kisses.

Thank you Glynis, I was hoping he would pull through too. I think that he may have had a seizure of some kind, as when I first picked him up in the morning he was twitching his legs quite a bit. Either that or another mini stroke. It was heartbreaking but at east I got to hold him in those last moments.
