One of my little chaps has just had a bladder stone removed so I am seriously thinking of changing all the gang over to Cavy Cuisine. Trouble is, as I am sure you all know, it is pretty difficult to get hold of and if you buy it on line postage costs the earth!

I am based in Kent and wonder whether any of you have found local suppliers? If you have bought Cavy Cuisine on line which companies offer the best p&p rates? They all seem to charge just under £12.00 for a 4kg bag but postage varies greatly from a few pounds to as much as £7.00!

Anyone got any ideas?

I can't help in your area but our local pet supplier tries to get things in if they are asked.
Worth a go maybe.

Tried that one. I spent the morning ringing around all my local pet shops and animal feed stockists to no avail. When I explained what I wanted and that it was made by Oxbow and called Cavy Cuisine most had never heard of it :o. One chap said that nearly all shops use 2 main catalogues to purchase all their supplies from and Oxbow didn't appear in either. One guy even thought I said "OXO" and asked me if I was having him on as this was a gravy!!

I tried googling "Oxbow UK" to see whether I could get a UK manufacturers/importers number to call but couldn't find anything - surely it can't be that difficult to track down?

Oh sorry that didn't help then...
EERRMM I don't know then sorry. 98)

Oh Tracy thank you soooooooooooo much, can't believe I couldn't find this earlier! I have a feeling I have tried one or two on the list already (thankfully oxo man doesn't appear on the list!) but will ring round some of the others tomorrow. Will let you know how I get on. :)

No probs glad to be of help O0

SPH Supplies can send you Cavy Cuisine and other guinea pig essentials like probiotics, Critical Care etc all for the same postage rate (under 15k I think?). You can also donate to Guinea Pig Rescue if you shop there and add the donation option to your basket. The donations keep the guinea pigs at Reading Guinea Pig Rescue on Cavy Cuisine...

I use SPH for my cavy cuisine and they're brilliant. The postage doesn't seem to high because I order a huge box of oxbow hay at the same time. I also like being able to help the rescue every time I shop.

:) Thanks for your support :) The guins enjoy their Cavy Cuisine and when they're rehomed many of the owners will either switch or start using Cavy Cuisine :)

The UK importer of Oxbow Cavy Cuisine is Petlife International - this is the company name that vets and other suppliers need to look for when trying to order it. It's the same company that Vetbed belongs to. I, too, get mine from SPH when my local garden centre is out of stock - can't fault their service.

Thanks guys. A local pet store in Sevenoaks has just given me Petlifes number so will give them a call, if not think I'm going to have to try SPH - will remember to link to the rescue!

:) The people at Petlife are lovely, good luck :) Perhaps they'll send a rep round to a shop in your area...
