Hi,
I bought a bag of wood shavings today and have already started using it. It doesn't say on the packet what type of wood it is, and I saw somewhere that cedar/pine wood shavings are toxic to the cavys. I'm not sure if this is true, but could anyone confirm it? Is there a way you can tell the type of wood shavings they are (smell, colour)?
(I'm concerned just in case).
Thanks.

Yes, cedar/pine shavings contain fumes that are toxic to guinea pigs and other small animals and should not be used.

Could you contact the provider and ask him what kind of timber is used?

Thanks, I'll look up the name and contact them, hoping for the best
