Well i've chosen to finally have cookie put down. the appointment is in about 10 hours... She's been paralyzed from the waste down for a while now. I've been cleaning her cage and her as often as i can but theres only so much i can do. ive tried to give her as much extra time as i could with pain killers from the vet and cleaning but she's lost all the fur from her legs... she's starting to develop sores. she gets stuck in the corners. if she's too far from her water she doesn't drink... she's always laying in her waste and her hips are totally displaced from atrophy. and recently i noticed her eye sight is going. i didn't want to put her down just cause she was disabled but the time has come. shes 7 or 8 years old so she's had a good life. the rescue i got her from said she had been returned a few times. I'm glad i got to give her her forever home...

Picture is of her eating grass in my back yard yesterday. gonna do that again this morning before the appointment. figured she can't run anywhere, anything unhealthy in the grass isn't gonna effect her. and i pick fresh dill and i have small bell pepper sprouting that haven't quiet gotten proper size yet that i feed her. small taste of freedom and the wind in her fur. sun on her face.

I'm sad for you, but as a loving piggy parent you know when it's time to help your little one off to RB. It's a lovely picture of Cookie sitting in the grass undoubtedly enjoying the change of scenery. I know how much some of my elderly guineas did when they were at that kind of stage.

7-8 years is a long life for a guinea, and you gave her a new lease of life with a permanent home when you 'adopted' her. Thinking of you and Cookie today.

The love you and Cookie share is clear and that love will continue for both of you. What a beautiful way to spend some time together outside as you prepare to give that last gift of love.
Keep talking to her and sharing stories of all the precious moments you have shared and know that the love and security you have given her will peacefully guide her as she crosses The Rainbow Bridge 🌈 she will be with you forever in your heart and your memories 🌈

So sorry that you have had to make this difficult decision for Cookie.
Your love for her radiates through your words.
Holding you in my heart ❤️
Be gentle with yourself.
Hugs 🤗

Very sad, but lovely that sweet little Cookie could have such a nice meal during your last time together. She has lived to a great age, but I am sure she will be greatly missed. Graze sweetly in the sun over the bridge little Cookie 🌈

BIG HUGS

You have made your decision with all your love and Cookie's welfare foremost in mind, but that doesn't mean that it is any less heart-rending when it actually plays out. Create some special memories and be proud of having given Cookie the best of homes and lives possible.

Give yourself time to grieve and not be OK for a little while. We are here for you to give you ongoing community support.

My thoughts are with you and Cookie.

I’m so sorry you’ve had to make this decision. She’s had an amazing life with you. Sending you massive hugs. ❤️

That last day together is hard. But you have spared her suffering and judged the situation with caring and compassion. Take care of yourself now and be gentle with yourself as you grieve 😔❤️🙏🌈
