My 2 girlies have just decided that they really like celery. I tried them with it a while ago but they didn't touch it. Anyway, I am just wondering if celery can be fed daily or is it one of the foods that they shouldn't have much of?

I think it's Ok but you'd have to cut it quite small, I heard the stringy bits can get caught in their throats. If they had lots of vegetables as well it would be good but cut into small pieces.

My two love it too. But i was told that it shouldnt be fed everyday, so now i fed it every other day.

my Zanzabar and Baker absolutely were disgusted with Celery to the point of rumbling at me when i tried to offer it,although they loved the leaves.

Fastforward a few months and celery is now a fave of theres,i cut mine into 1cm long pieces to avoid choking on the stringy bits,
It shouldnt be fed everyday as its basically straight water and doesnt have as much nutrients as other veg,i have a couple of friends who have lost pigs due to bloat from feeding it everyday.
I would advise 2-3 times per week xx

Isn't it odd how something which is really just straight water can taste so foul? My piggies will never have the chance to find out whether they love it or not. I hate celery with a passion and would never buy it... :p The water treat aroud here is cucumber! :)

My pigs love celery, they get a small amount daily mixed in with their other nutritious veg.

Interesting about the bloat Bonnie, I have not heard that before but it is good to know. The small pieces of celery I give my lot most days doesn't affect the pigs with chronic bloat, but it's still nice to be aware that celery can lead to problems if fed too much.

yes Laura it is strange, the person who fed it to there pigs said they had increased the amount of celery as its a good filler and then all these pigs started to get bloat, its only in large amounts that it causes issues x

Thanks guys. The reason I brought it was because it was only 49p. I HATE celery so am chuffed that they have started to eat it as I hate wasting food.

When they have it, I cut it in to 'small' pieces and mix with other veg such as tomato, pepper and cucumber :)
