Hi all
My elderly piggie Chunk is 6 1/2 yrs old she is still quite healthy apart from a bit of laboured breathing but recently i have noticed her poo has changed shape its tiny almost ball like insead of the usual jelly bean shape does anyone know what could be the corse of this should i be worried or not is this normal for elderly piggies x

Has your guinea pig been on antibiotics? If so this is often what happens but if not perhaps the food is not being digested well. Is your piggie eating just as much as usual?

Maybe it is best to have her checked out by a vet. I would to be on the safe side.

Are all her poos like this or just some? How long have they been like this for? To be honest I have no idea if this could be a problem or not, but if it has only been a couple of weird ones and others normal, I'd just keep an eye out for a day or so. A vet trip to give you peace of mind is probably a good idea though.

It does suggest some kind of digestive disturbance. At her age i suppose it may be par for the course. A good cavvy savvy vet is the way to go. Theyre might be nothing serious wrong, in which case maybe probiotics are the answer, (a little disolved in water and syringe fed every day can help with digestion) But only do that if the vet rules out something more serious.
