Changing from muesli to pellets

We are getting three guinea pigs from a family who have fed them muesli instead pellets

I’m not sure how to change over from the muesli to pellets. Should I stop the muesli straight away or should it be gradual like it would be if we were changing the brand of pellets?

Obviously their main diet will be hay with some vegetables

I would stop it altogether. Remember pellets should be kept to one tablespoon a day for each piggy. Be careful with veg if they’ve not been eating them before. And double check their sex as well, you don’t want any intact males in with females.

You are likely to be met with resistance when switching from muesli to pellets so don’t be worried if they won’t immediately eat pellets. As long as they eat lots of hay then they will be fine!
