Changing pellets

Help please. Our girls are on burgess excel with mint but I would like to love them onto harringtons. I tried phasing out burgess as I came to the end of the bag, but they’ve point blank refuses to eat them! I was forced to buy another bag of burgess but would really like them to be off by the end of it.

Any help greatly appreciated.

I had to fix a sign at wickes, next to the currys pc world

I’ve changed mine to Harrington’s. It took some convincing! I started 70/30 for a week or two, then 50/50 ect xx

Just to add you only need to feed 1 tablespoon per pig per day

@PiggyPoo dis they eat the harringtons when you first put them in? And if not, did you leave them in and not top up till they were eaten?

No they didn’t touch Harrington’s at first so Every day I put the same in 70/30 ect until they started to try it then gradually increased to 50/50 xx

Sometimes you have to be stubborn with them. Once they realise those are the only nuggets they are going to get they will soon start eating them!

I agree with @Flutterby A few years ago my then piggies were on muesli and I really wanted them off of it. I started trying to mix the pellets (I use Harringtons too) in with the muesli but they were having none of it. They eventually started to pick at the pellets the more I reduced the muesli. One day I just gave them the pellets and nothing else. They didn't eat them for the first few days but once they realised that's all there was, they soon started eating them. I have been feeding Harringtons ever since and newbies that came to me soon got use to them.

I felt bad not giving them pellets so each time I caved and put in some Burgess for them! I’ll try again when I’m halfway through the bag I bought. Still on the old one a month later.
