We will be hopefully rehoming some rescue piggie soon and obviously they will come to us 'pre-named'. The children will probably want to rename them! Will they notice?! Do piggies even recognise their names? They'd only be young piggies so can we get away with it without confusing them lol!?
Thanks

Names are more for us than them...but I do think they pick up ** tone .my Gus seems to kinda notice a diff when I say his name sweetly he"ll do a very soft wheel sometimes

The piggies don't mind; they adapt. Go with the names that you feel are right for them!

All my piggies have Welsh names. Some that were part of a large rescue I named directly for the first time; beloved older ex-pets I tried to find similar sounding names for where possible, but the rest got stuck with a completely new name I thought might suit them. I usually let the rescue people choose their favourite name from a short list if I go for a new name.

As mentioned before the piggies don't understand the words you say or even what they mean but they pick up on syllables and tones and so short names are easier for them to learn.
They learn to connect things like the sound of a rustling bag means hay, they don't know it's a rustling bag they just know thats what happens when food comes.
