I was reading that pigs can eat big tomatoes, but only with the pips removed. The source mentioned cherry tomatoes but didn't specify whether to remove the pips or not. I have been doing so with the cherries just to be on the safe side, however it is a fiddly process and there is not much tomato left after! So do I need to remove the pips from cherry tomatoes or not? :hmm:

Yes remove anything green as it can be toxic to them and only give like one small cherry tomato as the can cause mouth sores

I don't remove the seeds from the cherry tomatoes and my piggies have had no ill affect. I would not give them the vine if you are buying the vine ripened ones though. I give them only half of one each twice a week.

The tomato leaves and stems are poisonous but the tomatoes are fine. My pigs get one cherry tomato each per week and they absolutely love them. I always leave the seeds in and they have been getting tomatoes for years now with no ill effects.

Mine love cherry tomatoes but again only get them every so often. I don't remove the seeds, just anything green :)

Two of mine think any kind of tomato is poison.
Pumpkin will eat them grudgingly when she is sure there are no better options!

Thanks everyone, for your advice. oh, JCJ, one of mine is called Pumpkin too! (Great name choice!) Though he LOVES tomato and is a boy! :))

Ah! Eileen's Mum, the pig on your avatar is sooo cute! (Black and white pigs rule!)

That's baby Eileen! She is extra special as she only has one eye

I'm wondering if it's less seeds removed that yours like, and more that to remove the seeds they have to be chopped up at least a bit, rather than given whole?
