I've cleaned Chesney out tonight and I was giving him loads of attention because he hasn't had a fat lot recently with Peppa being due to have the little piggies so when we were having cuddles I was rubbing his fur up how he likes me to, and I noticed a bald patch? Chesney was treated roughly 2 months ago now for some sort of parasite, he had 3 sittings with the vet where they applied like a spot on type oil. All the scabs as far as I knew started to disappear. And now this? Could this be related in the sense of a side effect of treatment? He doesn't have any scabs any more and he doesn't itch there's nothing to say he still has parasites.
I did wonder though, could this have happened through stress of being separated from Peppa? They've been together since I got them, until I realised Chesney was infact a male and Peppa was pregnant.

Heres some pictures to show you what I found. the skin is very smooth not raised or red or anything.

Thanks guys!

Sorry - that looks like another trip to the vet... :(

It is difficult to decide from your picture whether it is mites or fungal. Especially in the early stages, they can look very similar. In that place, on the shoulder, it could be either. Both are highly infectious and both are opportunists that can hit when the immune system is lowered. Please use good hygiene and wash your hand thoroughly after handling, as ringworm (a form of fungal) is transmittable to humans and other mammals.

I am torn too, it is difficult to tell from a photo but would be more inclined to think fungal though it could be both as they can often have a combination of both mites and fungal. I agree with Wiebke that a vet visit is required. If the vet suggests Ivermectin for mites - injections or oral dosing (0.1ml) are more effective than spot on treatments. For fungal, there are many different types in addition to ringworm, but I would suggest a round of baths in an anti-fungal shampoo such as Nizoral, Alphosyl or Malaseb (Malaseb would need to be obtained from the vet) followed by Imaverol dips to start with. See what the vet says and we can advise further if needed and provide links on where to get the shampoo and Imaverol.

Thanks very much, I had already booked him an appointment can't get in until next week thou anything I can do in the mean time?

Is he scratching at all? or seems uncomfortable?
