I'm using an old baby blanket to protect a part of my carpet that they like to poo on. However, it has "fronds" and Elliot keeps chewing on them. Is this just a curiosity thing? Would it hurt him if he managed to eat some of the thread?

I would just keep an eye on it for now, if he seems to be getting much off it then I would remove the blanket just in case. Is there any way of trimming the fronds off without the blanket fraying? That would probably be your best option. My Maisie likes to chew anything dangly so everything gets a once over with a pair of scissors in this house before she gets near it :))

why don't you go to your local carpet shop and get a couple of old samples to put on that part of your carpet - they are really cheap and * can pick a pretty colour!

Mo & Jules like to unpick the towels when we have them sitting on them in case of accidents rolleyes while theyre out for cuddles Mo is also partial to my hoodie sleeve lol :))

In general, animals can be injured by eating string/thread. However, I would guess that a guinea pig is less likely to have a problem because they will grind the thread into little bits. If he is only managing to chew off small bits, it's fine. The problems only occur when an animal has swallowed a length. I would snip off any threads which can be pulled out, as opposed to just chewed off.
