One of my herd woke me up at half past six this morning chirping like a bird. Unfortunately, I didn't think to record her before I got so close to the cage that she stopped. Man, it was loud! From what I've read, nobody really knows why they do it, but do other people with chirpers find they do it often? Can I look forward to more early morning calls?

Chirping is never predictable; that is part of why it is so hard to figure out! A few piggies are more habitual chirpers, but even they will not do it all the time. Other piggies may do it once in their lives... Most will never chirp.

One of my boys chirped. The first time it was my flate mate who was home. He spent quite some time looking for the bird that had got into the house. Then he realised it was coming from baby George. Ive heard him do it once and it was amazing if not confusing at fitst ;). None of the others have chirped.

Smudge is my chirping piggy, but I have only heard her do it once. It was a wonderful sound, but she wasn't herself, almost frightened.

My pigs that chirped seemed to do it in bursts- they would both chirp a couple of times a month, then stop and not do it again for years, then maybe twice more... At this point the pigs I had that I heard chirp have passed on and I have never heard the pair I have currently chirp at all.

I only ever heard Ruby chirp once in her life it was in the middle of the night and at first thought a bird had got in it was very loud, I googled it but there were mixed comments on the reason for doing it, happy, not happy, stressed, I don’t think she was stressed so I believed her to be happy.
