These from pets at home, my hamsters have one a day. Just curious could I give my piggys 1 a day, or maybe a couple a week?

What are the ingredients?
I would say probably not because they are not designed specifically with a guinea pigs nutritional needs in mind.
Plus they sound like they have sugar in them, which really isn't necessary for guinea pigs.

The only treat my piggies will eat at the mo is either a thin slice of bell pepper or a single stem of parsley.
I didn't think of sugar in the treats

Best to avoid them, they are usually full of rubbish. Hamsters digestive systems are different to that of a piggys too. I used to own two syrians at different times, one of which loved the yoghurt drops, which again are just full sugar, but he got one every now and again as he really loved them! The other hamster preffered nuts and seeds which where much better for him so i just stuck to that :-)

As far as guinea pigs are concerned, please stay off anything that contains any form of sugar/honey; lactose (milk, yoghurt etc. - guinea pigs are lactose intolerant!); seeds and nuts (too fatty and may get stuck in the teeth). Dried fruit are also not recommended. Chocolate is a strict no no for pets, including guinea pigs.

A handful of speciality hay or a pinch of readigrass every few days are much better treats - they are the equivalent of cake and biscuits to a guinea pig's much finer taste buds! ;)

Do you know about Timothy Grass Wiebke?

It is basically the same as variety of grass timothy hay is made from. Timothy grass - if dried - is a form that is harvested earlier than the hay and it may be freeze dried to keep its green colour.

I'm naughty, one of my hamsters has 2 or 3 a day, although it's only supposed to be one.
Poor love is very old & i figure she should die happy. That may seem irresponsible to some people, but it's certainly the way I want to go.
I know when she does go it'll break my heart.

As I thought. Lol can I give some to my piggies some, if so how much?

You can give them some, but it would only give it in small quantities as an occasional special treat as grass is richer than hay and can be fattening if fed in too large quantities. Either a pinch per piggy every day or a small handful 1-2 times a week.

As tempting as it is to enforce regular begging by giving in each time, try to keep a treat as what it is meant to be - a special event and not an integral part of the daily diet. You provide much more joy and excitement that way - and it is definitely healthier!

Think I shall have to skip the Timothy grass, because it comes in a massive bale & most would be wasted. I'll proberly just stick to the readi grass

Tiamolly123, could you please tell me a bit more about the timothy grass bale? Where would you buy/order it from? Is it like ReadiGrass or a different product?

:D You can get Timothy hay in smaller quantities. Have a look at TheHayExperts, or even Fetch.co.uk. Mind, it's a bit pricey, because it comes from the US of A.

i wouldnt really bother with treats because most of them are full of sugar. but if you find cheap ones without sugar i would buy because your piggies might like them but i would give them seedless grapes and a slice of apple as a treat even thou the apple has a bit of sugar it shouldnt really matter because you dont give it to them every single day. so i would save my money for toys and hay for them and give them natural treats. And also give them grass they love grass mine cant have enough of it xD

Readigrass is a different product. It is freeze dried grass and much richer than hay; if overfed, it can be fattening. Readigrass is a treat and not a staple, like hay.

Here are some links to UK hay suppliers that offer bags of hay in different sizes:
Hay for Pets supply best quality Hay - organically grown hay, and straw for Rabbits, Guinea Pigs, chinchillas and other animals - Hay for Pets
Natural Hays Rabbit Supplies | The Hay Experts

Thank you Wiebke! I do buy timothy hay from The Hay Experts and Hay for Pets - tried both Alfalfa King and Oxbow, but the pigs didn't particularly like it. So I was on the lookout for an alternative. And because Tiamolly123 was referring to timothy grass as opposed to timothy hay, I was wondering if somewhere someone was selling freeze-dried timothy grass or something similar, which would have been great considering that my 15 kg ReadiGrass bale has all but disappeared.
