I follow the guidance on here religiously for feeding the piggies, they have Brita filtered water, the works.

But a few months ago I was giving one of the pigs parsley, after I'd eaten chocolate mousse, and he found a tiny bit on my hand and went absolutely insane licking it.

Could they have a lick of chocolate mousse for their Christmas treat once a year, I wonder ..

How do others treat piggies at Christmas? Got the rosewood stocking last year but they didn't like it.

Sorry but absolutely not.
Chocolate mousse contains all manner of things that are bad for piggies, and offers no nutritional value whatsoever.

If you really want to treat your piggies at Christmas (I know I do) there are lots of things that they love and are also not bad for them.

Special hays and forage mixes
Fresh grass or dandelion leaves
Parsley (we don't often feed it due to high calcium)
A willow ball stuffed with nice hay (Eddi's favourite)
Strawberry tops and brussel sprout leaves
Fresh banana (Ruby's favourite)

And for Christmas day the children usually buy the guinea pigs a chew stick each from their pocket money.
We try to go with Rosewoods or JR Farm (no added sugar and grain free) but this year they bought Vitakraft (added honey).
It's not ideal, but it also isn't the end of the world for one day in the year.

We are also a big fan of 'Innocent Guinea pig' treats from PAH as a bit of an indulgent purchase.

So lots and lots of options that don't involve things that might actually be harmful.
