Following on from yesterday's Woe is me, I don't think it's me!

Wilma, does seem to be in discomfort when wee'ing.

Poor Girl, so guess where we will be going very soon! :x

Both my pigs Bradley and Barney have had this, could it also be when she's pooping that she's in discomfort? I've found that my boys sound like that when they get a bit constipated or when they're a bit bloated. Really hope that it turns out to be something simple and not a bladder stone or anything like that.

Aww she's definitely in some discomfort there, one of ours, Sookie, is also squeeking when she wees so I'll be ringing the vets tomorrow as well. Fingers crossed it isn't stones for either

I had urine sticks in the house so tested for blood and infection both negative obviously I'm not a vet though, and I have heard they test strips aren't always accurate. Got her to wee on white didn't dry brown so no blood there either.

In the meantime flush her bladder with water, Cranberry and Barley Gloup. I think I may jump straight to Xray just to rule stones out anyway if it doesn't start easing up, but I will ask for another urine sample cause I don't trust my own results. Rather the vet did it!

I shall take the video just incase nothing shows, and I look like I'm loopy yet again. rolleyes

Poor Wilma, I hope it's nothing to worry about. You have certainly been through a few worries. I am sure Glenn will sort things out. Good luck, I'm thinking of you x

I can't get to Glen's so we'll be going to a vet in Glasgow my friend uses, Want to have a vet I can trust here to incase of an emergency.

I'm sorry you can't get to see Glenn but I suppose it's a sensible thing to have vet closer should you need one really quickly.

Remember, if we can help at any time just ask.

It's fine I will still use Glen but rather have someone in an Emergency to thats in Glasgow.

Awww poor Wilma. A nearer very good guinea pig vet would be fantastic - Glenn is a really really fantastic GP vet and always my first choice, but sometimes getting there because of the distance may not always be possible....

Hope the cranberry juice etc helps her

xx

I'm sure youll be able to soon ..... but it doesnt always help if you have to work as at worst its taken me 1.5 hours to do the journey driving (rush hour in horrendous weather) and at least 45mins..... so if you leave work, go home, get pig and travel in rush hour .... it can still be a looooong journey ..every time Ive gone Ive had a day off or taken a half day from work ... its been especially bad driving since we've had such a snowy winter.... hopefully its improving weatherwise now... and our pigs are gonna start being healthy....rolleyes

xx

Aww poor girly, she does sound like it's uncomfortable to pee. Hope it's nothing serious!

oh my gosh that takes me right back to last summer, she sounds just like my pepper did, its absolutely heartbreaking to hear. Pepps went on for about two months before i lost him following his stones op. I still have the video of him squeaking, i cant bring myself to delete it even though its distressing, its how i remember my baby, and we spent so much time together syringe feeding etc, very sad.

If i may say, i totally think you are doing the right thing jumping straight in with an xray, i wish i had the knowledge i had now, i would definately take this action next time. Also, the first time i took pepps to the vet when he started sqeaking, they tested his wee, and he had no blood in it.

Poor Wilma, really hope she is ok poor little lady (sending her some lovely healing vibes) xxxxx

We all learn with experience, I only know as my friends pig had stones with no blood. I always thought blood was present with stones, just goes to show not everything we read is correct. With her having reoccuring UTI's last year I'd rather have it checked. IT's one of these things that doesn't necessary show blood. Piggies who'd have them!

Let's hope for a nice UTI :))! xx

ABS are alot better for everyone even my purse ;)! Good job she waited till Pay Day, and for my overdraft to be paid off Clever girl she is.

Sometimes I'd rather not have the stress, but they are quite cute. Although I do think its a high price for caring when they pass it's heart wrenching. Perhaps I'll aim for healthy pigs! xx

Fingers crossed if it is anything, it's just a UTI as they are much cheaper to treat but saying that, when it comes to the piggies, price doesn't come into it does it?!

I couldn't be without my piggies, despite all the stress and heartache they cause. The day one of them passes will be absolutely heartbreaking.

Fingers crossed all goes well and I agree, you are probably wise just going straight for the x-ray. Wish I had done that with Nibbler and then I wouldn't have had a month of stress before discovering it was a stone.

If it is a UTI, get the banana flavoured Septrin.....my Nibbler loves it (yet he doesn't actually like bananas) lol.

On Tuesday night I noticed Wilma straining and I'm not quite sure why but I immediately picked her up and saw she was bleeding from Vagina. I took her out, it wasn't diluted blood it was pure blood. Gave me the impression she had perhaps passed a stone.

I had her out and she was doing alot of Shuffling and spot bleeding, within half or hour or so she had stopped spot bleeding. I was able to find a lump in her tube (Stone I think). It was there for 3 days, I gave her lots of fluid, made sure she urinating and that she wasn't in pain. This morning I couldn't find it and now shes stopped crying!

We went to the vets tonight, I requested she was Xrayed to make sure there was nothing untowards.

She got the all clear, and is on a 5 day course of Septrin to make sure there is no infection! Happy Days! x

Thanks for the update. Sorry to hear about the stones. I had my Sweetie x-rayed for stones in the summer but nothing was found. The vet thought that she had some calcium deposits towards the entrance of her bladder.

She is fine now and I hope that Bette makes a quick recovery.

OMG i've missed this thread i'm so sorry :(

Poor baby i saw the you tube :(:.............. just like when Velvet had her UTI....except she did pass blood right away

You did SO WELL XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX x)x) good on you love, you're so tuned in to her that you've picked up on a **** and dealt with it :)

Bless her i do hope the meds help and she's feeling like a piggie girl again soon x)

I do regularly give the girls watered down (cause of Velvey's diabetes SIGH) cranberry juice, after she suffered that last time i was determined to try and beat it before either of them ever got it again....it's so horrible to see and hear them squeaking like that :0
