Hi,

Couple of daft questions. First one, cage s fleece lined but I'm struggling to brush up the poos cos the brush n my dust pan and brush is too soft, can anyone recommend a decent be?

Also Jorgie is long haired and I've notice the hair about her bum is getting a bit discoloured. Given it a good brush which helped a little, but still back to white? What do you guys advise?

Thanks in advance

Sharon

I just use a cheap brush and pan I bought, but I have one with really soft bristles, and I agree - too soft, it just pings the poo everywhere lol. You could get another one very cheaply, just check the bristles before you buy.

You could try a bum bath for the dirty fur using special guinea pig shampoo. It's less than a £5 for a small bottle. I bathed all three of mine and hardly made a dent in it. P@H sell it, and so do most pet shops.

Aw thanks, a damp bum flannel might feel the way forward. First Guinea pug has white fur on her bum... Never thought that through clearly....

With my fleece cage !iners I pick them up and shake the poos off i to a wide bin. I also use a hand held hoover to vaccum them up!

I have 3 long haired guinea pigs and keep their bum fur short to avoid the damp look.

Bum fur short if they are long haired it really does make a huge difference. Don't worry about styling :)) Our long haired piggies bums looked silly at times after my hairdressing skillz

Aw dirty bums are standard for my lot, filthy beggars! :))

I get my shampoo from Gorgeous Guineas online. It's nice and natural, smells good too!

I'd strongly suggest steering clear of the Johnsons small animal shampoo as the last time I checked it said on the back to wear gloves and eye protection when using the product, which would concern me putting it on my delicate, wriggly pig! I bought it a while back and when I saw that on the back it went straight in the bin! It says it on most of their dog shampoos as well... Makes me wonder what's in it as they don't list ingredients I don't think.

I've done a few bum baths now, be prepared to have an unexpected wash with them! :))

Yes, I can imagine it's going to be wet....

Going to have a look at gorgeous guineas.. Hope they don't have too many nice things...

I got some gorgeous guineas shampoo especially for long haired piggies and it smells lovely! Next time I give Betsy a bum bath she'll have a bum trim after I find it easier to do that way around. She is a bit of a wriggler during bum bath time so I wrap her top half in a towel which makes it easier. When drying her off with the hairdryer I bribe her with food as it's the only way to keep her still.
