Fluffbabies
Junior Guinea Pig
Hello,
Can anyone recommend some clippers good for grooming long haired piggies?
Oreo tolerates clippers better than scissors for trimming her long hair and removing any matts that might form. She hates getting brushed. We’ve tried gently brushing her with a soft bristle brush since she was young (she’s almost 5 now!) but she gets so stressed out if you touch her hair at all.
Now that she’s older and moves around less aka sleeps a lot her hair seems to get dirtier even though we try and keep the cage as clean as possible and she’s got some matting around her bottom. She always finds and lays in the wettest dirtiest parts of the cage
We got some highly rated pet clippers off Amazon which are meant to be quieter ones too but they barely get through her hair.
The other thing I thought of is giving her a bath and maybe leaving the shampoo in for a while to break down some of the “grease” on her fur? She tolerates baths well but we don’t like putting her through one unless she needs it because we don’t like to stress her.
