I was in the process of trimming all of my pets nails today, and when I came across my male piggy bubba, I noticed that he had a nail shaped thing sticking out if the foots pad on both of his front paws. I don't think it's a normal thing, but I will go look at my other male to see if he has it. Anyone know what it could be. It is right about my thumb.

It looks like a corn. Think they also call them spurs. My old guinea pig snowball had them. My dad used to trim them when he was cutting snowballs nails.

I don't know how they get them. My dad just use to trim it off. But take care not to cut too close to the skin. I don't think it's too serious.

It sounds like foot spur. They are very common, about one quarter to one third of piggies develop them on their front paws. Guinea Lynx :: Guinea Pig Feet and Foot Problems

A thin one like that that could get caught in things, you can just clip off, as long as you stay well away from live skin. If worried, please get a vet to do it for you.
