I've been giving my two piggies Burgess Excel hay from Pets at Home, which they seem to love (judging by the amount they eat!) Today I was in Wilko's and saw that they have 'timothy hay for rabbits and rodents' which is much cheaper. I was suspicious and didn't buy any. Do you think this would be ok for my two or should I avoid it?

As long as it is fresh, green and doesn’t smell musty then it’s fine for them to eat.
Timothy hay is not a good bedding though as it tends to be more stalky.

if you’re going to switch hay then I recommend doing it while you’ve still got some of the type you know they like. That way you can mix new hay in bit by bit. What you don’t want to do is only have a new type and find they don’t like it and then they’ve got nothing to eat - they can be very particular about their hay!
I get my hay from Haybox and my lot won’t touch any other brand!

Thank you. I think I was suspicious because it's about a third of the price of the hay I've been buying and so I thought maybe it's not very good quality. I might buy some next time I'm in Wilko's and see what Toffee and Biscuit think of it. Thanks again
