Confused about veggies

There is always going to be conflicting advice as piggies are still (unfortunately) a very under researched species (even in veterinary literature). But I know from talking to other experienced members on here that celery is fine to be fed a couple of times a week, cucumber daily and kale once a week. I had a piggy with IC and managed to keep that under control with this type of diet, so there must be some proof in the pudding there!

Daily veggies I also feed include coriander, romain lettuce, green peas and bell peppers. On occasion (treat) mine enjoy corn on the cob, kale, carrot, celery and maybe a bit of watermelon (on rarer occasion due to sugar).

Sorry it can be a minefield sometimes! But unlimited, good quality hay is the way forward. Minimal pellets and think of veggies as an afternoon snack. Fruit is a rare treat. Hope that helps! :)

Also keep in mind what your piggy does well with! One of my pigs can’t handle celery or coriander for some bizarre reason (giving it results in tummy issues). My previous pigs, little veterans, could’ve eaten everything in my fridge and been fine, but my current two are pretty delicate

:agr: I have one very similar. He can only have peppers and a bit of cucumber, he can't tolerate anything else. It is often a case of trial and error! Plus they don't all like the same. Some of my boys love cucumber, others turn their noses up!

I give coriander or gem lettuce daily plus cucumber and bell pepper. Carrots , fine beans , baby sweetcorn sugar snap peas, dill and deseeded tomato are given as a rare treat . Even more rarely I give a sprig of parsley or dandelion leaf.
