So youuu think he's ok he just being a piggie and hoping everytime he heard the refrigerator hill get something even if he dosent ? You think I'm doing a good job by having my 1st piggie ?

his cage is very very small. petshops are allowed to sell small cages, even when they're not big enough to meet requirements unfortunately. i suspect they were either not knowledgeable regarding piggy care, or just said what they had to to get a sale :( could you make a c+c cage? that way you could have a ramp leading upwards and use any height space rather than room space.

you're doing the best you can and we all have to learn along the way. if i'm honest, it sounds like he needs a friend ideally. because that isn't possible, doing the things suggested with his food and toys would be the next thing to try. other than that, there isn't much else really. :)

i just had a thought. could you use c+c grids and cable tie them to make a run? just clip the ends together with pegs or bulldog clips. because it's cable ties, it will be easy to fold up and down as needed. so you could leave it up whilst you're at work or through the night when it won't be in your way? you could either put his cage inside it, or have it infront of his cage for him to use?

i use this method to block the tv and curtains at night as i would worry the rabbits would manage to chew wires or get stuck in the curtains! they're free range. i then easily fold it down when i get up and put it out the way until needed again. :)

I agree that adding some extra space would be good. Pets shops will say anything to get a sale and the cage you have is more hamster sized. If you could add a run and lots of hay he would be happy.

A run like a extra floor? And he has plenty of hay I think he's happy I think I'm over thinking things ;(

A run that you can attach to the outside of his cage so he can run about as there is not much space in his cage.

if you built a c+c, then you would have a ramp leading up to another floor. or if you keep the cage you have now, you'd just use the cubes cable tied together around his cage to make a run, or clipped to the front of his cage so he had a run infront and could still access the cage. when you're asleep or at work, you could clip it on, and that way it wouldn't be in your way. then you could take it down if needed for a while.

does he have to be in your bedroom? do you have another area with more space for a bigger cage and/or run? the lounge or kitchen maybe?

did you try him with some coriander yet? if so, did he like it? :)

The cage is FAR too small for a guinea pig. Pet shops will say anything to get a sale. Honestly the cage isn't fit for him at all. I'm sorry. Pet shops are amazing at giving bad information just to get money out of a customer.

As said above, I'd get CC for him personally. With C and C you can make the cage any size, height or length you want. It's perfect for a small house as you can build it upwards if you can't do it outwards.

Vegetables, personally I'd suggest trying green beans, peppers (red, yellow and green), coriander - mine go nuts for this stuff-, celery and maybe some dill.

If you can't get him a friend, I'd suggest getting him a small babies teddy - no eyes or beads inside it- and he can cuddle up to that. I've done that when a piggie has passed away and the friend is left lonely. One of my current boars, even with his girlfriend loves cuddling up with his teddy bear.

You sound like a very caring piggie mother. I'm sure he's very happy with you but he definitely needs a bigger cage.
