hi, all! I've scanned the forum for any solutions to guinea pig warts, but not found anything concrete. Our guinea pig has had a growth that keeps getting bigger for about a year now. The vet just shrugged her shoulders and said its a wart. Now our other one has it, spikey wart growths on her nose. :(

Can anyone tell me if there's ever been a treatment for this? We are taking them to a specialist vet this week. Thanks!

Oh dear.
Are you sure its not fungal?
Try posting a couple of photos?

Good on you for taking them to a specialist. I've found the ordinary vets are pretty clueless except for dogs & cats.

I've never heard of them having warts. Fungal/ ringworm is more likely especially if it is contagious! Please be extra careful as ringworm is also contagious to humans

Hi, all... Yeah, don't think it's fungal. Guinea pigs can acquire warts, as all animals can, and I'm pretty sure by looking at pictures of fungal that this is warts. Looks like a wart too, cauliflower appearance. Vet also thought so. Warts are also contagious. But I suppose the specialist will know for sure. I was just hoping someone might've seen some kind of treatment in their days on the boards! :)

I'll post pics when I can. They're like spikey little wart growths, a bit cauliflower in appearance.

Oh, thanks for that. No, doesn't look like that.

The update is, the other piggy's nose looks fine now, so I, not sure what happened. I know I saw something very similar on her nose last week. Maybe warts don't take on some animals? Anywayyy, I'm relieved. I'm going to have the vet take another look this week. But our other pig's warts seem to have stopped spreading and are just staying the same.

Thanks. Everyone, for your responses! :)
