Hello everyone I hope you are all well. I have a question regarding one of my girls.

Today we have noticed that when she eats hay or pellets she makes a sound like a baby coughing. She does it once and them seems fine.

She has never done this before and has only started today.

I have heard her do it at least 4 times in about 5 hours.

Has anyone else experienced this. She will be going to the vets asap. Just wanna here what other people say in the mean time.

Thanks

Sorry this got missed, how is she now? She may have got a bit of dust in her throat or ate too fast

Sometimes piggies eat too fast and do this. However if she's continually doing this she may have a bit of food stuck. Sometimes they can clear this by themselves, other times it may be better to seek a veterinary opinion.

Good idea to go to a vet just in case but it may just be speed eating.
I find sometimes with mine food is inhaled rather than eaten and then there’s a cough or sneeze

If she is doing it every time she is eating dry food then I would take her for a check at the vets to make sure nothing is going on, like a problem with her teeth.
