Could I use this for my bladder/UTI prone piggies?

I just wanted to get some opinions of people who are a lot more knowledgeable than me. I have a couple of piggies who are extremely prone to UTIs/stones/sludge. We have been managing this with diet, have been giving the Oxbow Urinary Support tabs (on the recommendation of our vet), increased exercise etc.

I was scrolling through some websites and found the: Supreme Science VetCarePlus Urinary Tract Health Formula for Rabbits

It appears that a lot of rabbit owners swear by this as helping their rabbits with their sludge issues. I know guinea pigs and rabbits are different species, but I know people often used “rabbit” products for guineapigs - for example, Fibreplex. As such, I was wondering if it would be worth me trying to incorporate this into the piggies diets?

They would still get all of the veg, low-calcium pellets etc, but maybe also this alongside? I know that the company also used to have a guinea pig specific version, but that seems to have been discontinued/is currently unavailable.

I already encourage exercise, filter water, give watery veg, give low calcium diets etc, so I was literally just wondering if it’s another one of those things that could be a good supplement!

I will post the ingredients below - I’m just very curious to what you all think!

Composition

Ground timothy hay, soybean meal, ground peas, oat flakes, dried alfalfa protein concentrate, linseed (1.5%), locust bean meal, dried echinacea (1%), dried dandelion (1%), dried nettle, soya oil, dried cranberries (0.25%), dried bilberries (0.25%), calcium carbonate.
Additives

Vitamin A 15000 IU, Vitamin D3 1500 IU, Vitamin C 500mg, ferrous sulphate monohydrate 152 mg, calcium iodate anhydrous 1.5 mg, copper sulphate pentahydrate 20 mg, manganese oxide 38 mg, zinc oxide 62 mg, sodium selenite 0.2 mg.

Can’t advise on these as I’ve not used them before.
With one of my long term IC piggies, I find that he manages very well on Cystease, filtered water, and a very low calcium diet. All of my piggies only get a spoonful of pellets per day (hidden and mixed with hay to encourage foraging) and I avoid too many veggies.

I'm sure they are worth a try if recommended by your vet 😊

It seems to contain a lot of calcium, alfalfa is high in it and dandelions are quite high, there is also the added calcium carbonate. My vet said to avoid soya. I second cystease or catease as being helpful for sore bladders but this is not something I would give my bladder piggies unless my vet recommended it.

Personally, I’ve found feeding a wetter diet is the best way to avoid bladder sludge issues, as well as infections and the formation of stones. I feed a lot of grass, particularly in the summer months, as well as a lot of veg, all year round.

My vets also mentioned wetting veggies to encourage more fluid intake if need be 😊
