could mice be the cause of mites? ive had a hell of a time getting my piggies sorted out, but fingers crossed they are on the road to recovery.

3 of my pigs had (what i presumed were mites/lice) i bought ivermectin and it seems to be working. i have 6 pigs in all, the three that were poorly all lived together, the other 3 are fine.

ive thoroughly cleaned, scrubbed, disinfected all the hutches, but today ive moved the whole lot to clean underneath and there are mouse droppings. so we are now cleaning out the shed which is next to the hutches, which would be a very welcome home for mice - piggies food and hay are stored there.

i had no new pigs, got straw/hay from same farm as always

so i was wondering could mice carry these blighters

I don't know specifically if mice carry mites or lice (mites being microscopic, lice visible to the naked eye), but I do know they can carry disease so please do make sure your piggies hay and food is stored well out of the way of the mice!

I do wonder if the problem is in the hay, this is a common source of parasitic contamination.
