Just stroking one of my piggies and noticed what looked like dandruff. Looking closer, in his black fur I can see some sort of lice/mite (moving, white). He also has a small scaly/ rough patch on one ear which is white in colour (on a black ear). He shares his cage with one other piggy, but I also have another in a completely separate cage and rabbit in another cage (same room). Will make an appointment with the vet tomorrow (closed today because of bank holiday), but would be grateful if anyone could offer advice as to what to ask vet to ensure the best outcome (will ask if they have a vet who specialises in guinea pigs, but I want to go to the appointment being able to ask the right questions). Worrying about the logistics of transporting and treating the three pigs and a rabbit and their separate cages! Many thanks :)

It sounds like it is mites especially if you can see movement. A bad infestation will be treated with injection but lesser can be treated with drops on the back of the neck. Your vet should know what is best in your boys case x

Visible moving white/yellowish parasites are lice. Good that you are seeing a vet for a proper diagnosis this week!
