i know some of you have seen this pic already, but this is (hopefully!) eddie's new girlfriend, who will be arriving here in approximately two weeks time. she is in boarding at the moment whilst her owner is on holiday, and then she will be coming here to us. her name is treacle.

isn't she lovely :luv: her owner is looking to rehome her as she's got a new job and will be travelling alot so wants treacle to have a new home and a new friend. sadly treacle lost her friend a few months ago. :( and obviously eddie is now alone after we lost our beloved maisie recently. :(

i'm really looking forward to her arriving and to looking after her. :luv:

oh, and the lady who runs the boarding has trimmed treacle's nails now. :))

Know what you mean. I have one piggy with all dark nails and one with dark nails on 3 paws - what a nightmare at monthly cutting nail time. But last year I had an epiphany - as the one boy goes into the vet every month for dentals let the vet cut his nails as well! So now I only have to do Hazelnut's nails.

ah that's good about the nails (not the dentals) - i seem to have pets with darker nails. only maisie has had light ones. :roll: good job i have my handy little torch to shine on them. :))
 
I have awful hair chopping and nail cutting skills :)) Dark nails are such nightmare... Honey and Gizi will not stay still no matter what I do :(
 
She is so beautiful. Hope the two weeks fly by! I totally know what you mean...its so exciting waiting for a new friend to come and stay, i'm sure it will fly by! :D
 
thank you. i have failed with not getting too attached before i know if they will get on. :roll:

it was luck really that the lady saw my thread on the rabbit forum, and then was asked to help rehome treacle for her owner and thought of us. we were having no luck finding a single girl in rescue ready to leave soon.

we were just going to take the first piggy who came up that was suitable for eddie, so we had no idea what she would look like (apart from being short haired), so it was a total surprise. :luv: i got butterflies when i saw her pic though :luv:
 
Awww, she is stunning. So Black, I can't wait to see lots more of Miss Treacle :drool:
 
I have a thing for black/dark brown pigs!:)) She's beautiful!

My boy looks black in pictures like that too, but if looked at in person he's a very dark brown!

i think those colours are beautiful aswell. :luv: could i see a pic of your dark brown piggy please? :)
 
i've neutralised the spare grids now (in a bath full of white vinegar and water :))) ready for her little cage and the bonding pen. also ordered two new baby fleece blankets for the bonding pen (could have used some we already have and washed them with vinegar but wanted an excuse to buy more :))) and o/h came back from sainsbury's earlier with two new cardboard boxes for them. :)

i bought some cheap correx for her little cage already so that's sorted. just got to make it now. it's only a little 2x2 grid cage next door to eddie, just while she settles in. :)
 
the new baby blankets arrived so they've been washed now and are nearly dry. i've got quite a stash of things ready so far. only about a week and a half to go now. :)
 
i made treacle's little cage today so that's all ready. we're pretty much sorted and ready now. she's leaving boarding on sunday so then we should hear from her owner soon after to arrange her coming here. :)
 
it's going sooooooooooooo slowly. i just want her here now! especially for eddie - he really needs a friend now. x
