creative ideas for hay rack?

Depending on space; an old magazine rack, which can be bought for a few pounds from a charity shop. Mine love it, as they sit outside and eat the hay or slip between the bars and sit inside it under the hay. They do eventually sit on top of the hay and make a mess of it though. Given the choice, they much prefer the magazine rack to a pile of hay. You could put some chicken wire over the bars so that they can't get between them and make a mess of the hay.

i have lots of grids - replacing my C & C grids with two double level, 4ft by 2ft hutches. Plan is it will make the shed look tidier, and it will be sturdier (got a scare then the dopey dog started walking around on the C and C upper level - it collapsed and i was very luck not to have piggy pancakes.)

I have two piggies that haven't been so well recently, a mum and son, who will have the upper level of one hutch all to themselves (4ft by 2ft). The other 10 are free rangers, they will have the full run of the shed and rest of both hutches.

i've never had hay racks that I've been happy with - seems like a good time to explore options.

So far, so good, keep them coming!

If you get a grid and bend it in half, attach it with cable ties it makes a nice hay rack.

I recently bought 2 from pampered piggies, unfortunately they have since closed I was more than happy with them!

Is the hayrack idea a preventative measure against forage soiling, or is it a scientific or aesthetic thing? It's an unnatural feeding angle and would appear to be potentially problematic as regards bits falling into their eyes...

Ours either have it on the floor or in vertical, columnar ones across the cage corner.

its a preventative measure against forage soiling. At the mo all mine get their hay in litter trays, and with so many who all spend lots of time in their trays peeing and pooping, their's a lot of soilage. I change the most popular trays twice a day, the others once a day.

Haven't decided what exactly i'll use yet out of all the clever ideas, a combination i think. They will run from about an inch off the floor to whatever height they reach, and will be easily removable so I can clean around them. Some of my piggies are extremely flexible, but a few need everything in easy reach.

Was thinking some type of clip to attach them. Maybe wire ties on one side of the C and C racks, to act as a hinge, and clips on the other. Will post Pics then all is done.
