My sheltie Panda is now sporting a rather choppy look to say the least :(|) my mum thinks i'm cruel for making her look like this but it's so hot, I think she'll feel lots cooler and happier with it all out of her way! What do you think, cruel or kind?

Kind! :)) It's not that bad! I'm sure she appreciates it! She's a cutie with or without her long locks! x)

Besides, it will grow back! ;)

I've done the same with my 4 shelties, and they love being cool! Good on you for giving her a good haircut!

Thanks all! It was funny because we all went 'ooooh who knew she had a spot and a stripe?!' those black marks are so funny from behind! Could never see their shape under all her fur before that! x

You've made a better job than my hairdresser does on me :))

She looks lovely x)

I've given the piggy in my avatar a short back and sides tonight too! She looks super cute, but quite silly! :))

I'm loving the layered look! I haven't done this to Goldmoon or Esme as they have been coping ok. Obvioudly if there was a strugle I would do it. :))

Kind!
I did exactly the same today with sheltie Sunny and Coronet Timmy...I am not hairdresser of the year but they must feel better for it :))

I might take another whack at Pola's hair tonight....and make her look more like Panda! :(|)

Kind-she looks so pretty like she went to the hairdressers and got her hair layered,I'm all for comfort rather than looks so i will be doing the same with Blade when i get him in summer x

Hehe thanks all :) she's so cuddly now too, can pick her up and squish her without having fur everywhere and getting messy! x

who cares if she looks a bit daft for a while. it is deffinately kind. like she's gonna be bothered what she looks like anyway. !

Very cute! Sometimes you have to forget vanity and just go with what is practical, definitely kind in hot weather!

I go for the classic bob with my shelties. :))

:)) I love how you cut their hair! I'm jealous! I can never do hers like that, she kicks out with her back legs like a horse and spins in circles! Not fun when you have scissors, she could lose an eye! So the longer she can go without a trim the better all round i think!
x

I was wondering about george he is a short hair but his coat is is very thick. could I use some sort of thinning sissors on him or is that cruel as he is not a true long hair?

Erm i'd imagine it does grow back because Ralfie's been shaved in places for ops before and its grew back. I doubt he needs to be trimmed to be cooled down though, it's only those with really long hair that i'd worry about and to be honest Panda was ok with the heat i just did it as a precaution x

I go with kind in this heat; and it should grow back, anyway!

What a stunning piggie!

drooldrooldrooldrool she's still a little cutie pie in my eyes x)
awwwwwww them you did a good job and hey she sounds real happy and it's def KIND xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Thanks Glynis, she is a happy piggy now! After owning her for over a year now i really am of the opinion that it's cruel breeding them to have hair that length, i'll probably be lynched now :)) It may look pretty but it's an absolute pain in the bum to keep clean/untangled. She is like a different pig when she's had a trim so from now on it's staying shortish if not completely short! x
