Cruelty free mascara

Can anyone recommned a good cruelty free mascara please?

I need one that has good volume if poss as my eyelashes arent very long!

I use one by a company called Laverna - £8.50 really lasts, will find out link later. Clarins dont test either but are about £36 for a mascara!

I tend to only know the vegan brands - beauty without cruelty are good but dont last as long.....

Stila do not test either so there are some choices out there.

I'm glad I asked now. I know that testing on cosmetics is banned in this country but a lot of the makeup brands out there are American.
 
I use the Max Factor in the gold tube, fantastic and doesn't get into my contact lenses...

Do Max Factor test on animals? I always avoid animal tested products so if someone says they do.....
 
Rimmel says they don't. I also use Body Shop and Yves Rocher, which don't.

Ives Rocher claim they dont, but their suppliers do instead. :( Me and my sister bought Ives Rocher for years, until we found out :(

And afaik Rimmel does aswell... not 100 percent sure about rimmel though.
 
Hmm

I'm not a huge fan of ingredients that are tested on animals either.
The thing is - its really hard to find out unless you go the whole hog and use only Vegan products / BWC

I'm pretty sure that the Bodyshop will retain its stance on animal testing, even though its now been sold - at least i hope that it will.

my sis was at a vets, sitting in the waitingroom and flipping through brochures (sp) and there was one that talked about it :(

I am writing an artikel atm, hope the local newspaper will publish it, because it is horrendous how we are getting misleading information all the time... take as an example, "just white" - it says on their products:

"the finished product has not been tested on animals" that can mean all sorts! peopl just quickly glance at it and think its testing free - when all they say is the finished lot is not tested... what they do before, they dont say.

Asda is the same, it says "Asda is against testing and funds research into alternatives" or something like that.
Which again, makes you think they dont - when all they say is well once we have found alternatives, we might stop...
I will actually ring ASDA consumer helpline and ask them for a straight answer - do they or dont they... :(
 
I'll be interested to know what Asda says, I buy their cleaning stuff because I believed it wasn't tested on animals.

I refuse to buy Body Shop stuff now, I love the vanilla range (my brother in law thinks I smell of custard all the time) but I was so disgusted that Anita Roddick sold to L'Oreal.

Getting to the point that I don't know what to buy. Anyone got any ideas for perfumes?
 
The Bodyshop is a tough one. I wasnt overly impressed and all that Nestle stuff .... oh i dont know

I like the products and as long as the animal testing situation doesnt change I think I will carry on using them as the animals are my main concern

There are Vegan perfumes out there (internet) or Stella McCartney is a good one
Also essential oils can be used i think (but might have to be diluted)

The best place for cleaning stuff is Co-op - its BUAV certified
 
I'm at work at the mo but i will post soon with lists of ok things to use/buy.

I'm vegan so have to check things carefully! Had to make lots of changes from my cruelty free veggie range when i went vegan as now i avoid lanolin, beeswax etc..

Rimmel, Asda, Max Factor all test, Body Shop have always said 'against animal testing' not not tested - a lot of companies get others to do so.Ive personally not used Body shop for several years now. If you ask at say lancome counters they say they dont but they like Body shop are owned by Loreal >:(

Co op own brand are fine all their cleaning range is fine and toilitries. I believe Clarins are fine and also Origins. Lush are cruelty free too.

There is a company naturewatch who have updated lists and BUAV animal welfare/rights group publish the little cruelty free shopper - lots of good things in there.

Perfume wise i just buy Dolma - natural fragrances and I have had the Next perfume - this says cruelty free on and is approved I'm told. I just love Dolmas range, also Lush Karma.

Will post more when at home - but internet access there is v slow so bear with me!

Thanks, this is all really helpful. Good news about the Next perfume, I had one of those ages ago and I loved it, can't remember its name though.

I also use Dermalogica skincare as that has BUAV approval

the most recent Next perfume is called Pink i believe becasue i was thinking about getting some for my daughter in law she is the colour pink mad, I also love Oceanas from the body shop I really hope they dont start testing on animals,
