Sorry for the thread but I need some advice please. I have a castrated 7 month old guinea pig and for the last week his penis hasnt looked the same as his litter mate. It seems to be out all the while and dosent go in. I have also noticed the last couple of days it being a bit crusty. I have just bathed it in wam bolied water and put some Daktarin oral gel on it. It is still out a bit but not as mush as before. Is this normal for his penis to stick out like this?

Sorry to hear about your little boy's problem. Their penis should be tucked inside, unless of course they are 'otherwise occupied'! Sometimes when they get really excited it can come right out & not go back in.

Also, if you ever need to clean their willies (usefull in long haired piggies, as they covered in hair, dirt & anything else their willy comes in contact with!), you should be able to gently encourage the willy to come out, with slight (& I do mean gentle) pressure. Sometimes the end of the willy will come right out & this should be able to be gently 'tucked' back inside. If you are not able to encourage to tuck his willy back in, then I would advise seeing a vet for assistance.

My manly crew send squeaks & hope his 'man troubles' are all sorted soon.

Michele
