I woke up at around 4 in the morning to hear my pigs fighting. Didn't think much of it, went back to sleep. When I got up I noticed that one of my piggies was hurt, and his nose looks swollen. What should I do?

A trip to the vet would be advisable if it looks bad, a photo would be helpful too

Bathing it in saline might help, my piggy Jezebel got a worse nose bite when we bonded 4 girls with a neutered husboar. I was in a panic too and asking on the forum :) Nose bites bleed a lot and look nasty but once you bathe it clean its probably quite minor. Vet check if you're worried but maybe bathe it first and get a proper look!

I agree with @PigglePuggle . The injury doesn't look too serious; disinfecting with saline solution or hibiscrub should be sufficient. The swelling is on the mild side and should go down in a day or two. If doesn't or if he has difficulty eating or breathing, then you need to see a vet.

Please see how your boys are together and if necessary split them up. It is difficult to judge whether it was a bite or a claw swipe that caught the nose. Please remove any hideys with just one exit and read the guides.

Thanks! I was just making some adjustments to their cage, and they only had the bottom level shared (its made of drawers, so I pulled the top ones out. Had to redo the flooring on those because it was bubbling up for some reason). It was only for a little bit and it had to dry overnight, and I guess they got a bit heated about being so close together all the time. They did have two huts down there, but I guess I'll never know what goes through their minds. I'll be sure to keep a close eye on them both. The extra floors are done now, and put back, so they should settle back down soon.

All the best! Being too close can cause a tiff. Hopefully they are OK back in their normal cage.

The same thing happened to our piggies! I would put saline drops on the swollen area. Oreo healed 3 through 4 days.
