Does anyone have any advice on cutting a coronets hair?

I've tried but no matter how much I cut from his bottom it always seems to stay long and get soggy and wet. I've cut a few knots out in the past and I am wondering if there is a good guide to cutting it or if anyone has any advice? I've already been bitten in warning once by hurting him accidentally.

I feel really bad as I don't want him to suffer and part of me wonders if he'd be better of with someone who knows what they are doing. :(

It's a shame there aren't any piggie groomers like dogs. :))

I tend to cut all my long haired piggies short...
Could you cut his hair really short on his back end...?
It tends to be easier if there is someone to hold him for you...

Short as in a short haired piggie?

I'd be a bit comfier if he was a girl. Problem is I can't tell where his balls are. It doesn't help he's black. xD;

Haha... :))
Yeh I trim it really short... My long haired look like short haired from behind... :))

Just try doing a small amount at a time... It gets easier once you've done it a few times... :)

Thanks, I'll try that. I love him a lot but I sometimes wonder I'm not doing the best for him.

I'll give it a go tomorrow. Do you reccomend washing him first so hes wet?

I tend to bath them after they been trimmed... You'd be shocked at how much rubbish they can collect in there butt fur... :))

If your worried about your pig then that means you care enough to be doing the right thing... :)

Yeah I wouldn't be surprised. My one piggie is short haired and the amount of stufff that gets in his bum and winky. :))

Thank you x. It means a lot. I was doubting myself.

I wish I could find a decent tutorial for cutting my piggies' hair - every time I trim them, whether it be my coronet Xs or my perus... they look like I've butchered them! :(

With my Coronets though, I tend to just give them a curtain trim around the back to keep it off the floor, and then work on putting layers in the back to trim everything. I always cut short the under-layers round their bum and make them REALLY short because that's where I find a lot of the dirt collects.

Thank you. Yeah thats where it collects the most on Romano. I've often found he feels very wet. I tried looking up videos on youtube but none of them were good or helpful.

I am quite lucky as my mum gave my her old hair clippers so on my fuzzy pig I shave her bum a bit, and its not a noisy clipper either, alot more easier than trying to cut around her bum..

My male long haired I just use salon scissors, alot more sharper and easier..

That is lucky. I did think of using a shaver but I don't thinik I'm brave enough to use it on him.

I asked mum earlier if she'd help me cut Romano's hair and she's agreed to. :)

I normally cut my pigs hair either during bath time or just afterwards (when their hair is wet) as it makes cutting so much easier as you dont pull any of the hairs.

My coronet boy (Wexford) hates being brushed - so you can imagine the hassle he makes during cut time - i find a two person approach works best - one to distract while the other cuts.

My lot often get 'bad' haircuts - rather that then them have matted hair that causes them pain..It does get easier and you do get quicker the more times you do it.

Short back and sides is what my lot have :) although my texel girl has her own personal hairdresser in the form of one or more of her cagemates, so i don't have to 'tend' to her as often as the rest!

Romano has his own personal styler too, except Arthur only eats the side hair so thats no help. :(|)

Luckily Romano is relaxed if not very wary when I cut his hair.

My texel girl looks like she's wearing a tu-tu - short sides, long back end - worst part is she used to have beautiful curly locks, now everytime i look at her she looks so sorry for herself :{

Its normally the 'bum' area that provokes the reaction - this is where a second person comes in handy - i use my 10yr old daughter for this ;)

Having a 10yr old nearby is also good when it comes to nail trimming - she holds, i cut ;)

Haha that is handy. Sadly I don't have any friends or siblings I can ask. Mum is my closest option though she forgot tonight. I'll have to ask her again tomorrow.

I need to cut my Bruce's hair and I'm nervous too. You would think being a hairdresser would help....it doesn't lol

My partner cut my cornets hair it was amazing.
He trimmed round to give like a skirt not touching the floor then trimmed upwards and feathered lasted a good 2 month. need to redo it now tho

We finally managed to cut his hair. I held him whilst mum cut. He was a very god boy about it and just watched. He then tucked into some green beans happily and allowed me to take photos. :)

Hmmm, Brucey might be in for a trim today then. He's pretty good having his manicure done and his shampoo and blowdry :))
