Hi, just after some advice. My pig had a cyst on his lymph gland, the vet lanced it and I spent a week keeping it open, making sure there was nothing else in it. It's all gone down now and hasnt filled back up for 5 days but the small (a few mm) wound hasn't scanned over.. it doesn't look infected but why isn't it healing over?
Thanks
Nicola

Hi! Please speak to the vet again.

@Nic bee I second speaking to the vet just in case.

I don't have any experience with lymph gland cysts but my boar who had a sebaceous cyst had a similar experience. It took a little while for the hole to scab over which surprised me too. It was a tiny couple of mm hole for a week or more.

In a way it was kind of helpful as I could monitor it to see whether it was refilling.

I agree, it was certainly easier than when I had to struggle taking the scab off every day to remove the new pus! I've called the vets and am waiting a call back from the super piggie savvy vet.. hopefully it'll close up soon and all be ok. Did the cyst stay away? X
Thanks for replying both.

@Nic bee Unfortunately it did come back a few times and we decided to have to removed completely although it didn't bother Lister at all, even when it was at it's biggest. It never completely disappeared, he always had a tiny black dot on his skin.

But his was on his side and it was caused by an ingrown hair so it doesn't mean that your pigs will be the same. Hopefully your piggie's will close up fully and never return. Fingers crossed! x
