Patch & Pi
Junior Guinea Pig
after never having a sick guinea, patch had a bout of hay fever. suddenly Pi is now sick. she swelled up over night. compleatley panicked it was bloat, and that the new bedding I got for Patch has made her sick.
so I rushed her in to the vet (brilliant vet receptionist, I said what was up, rang at 8:50, and they saw her by 9:20) vet took her in to do tests ( he let the girls stay together, so they wouldn't be as stressed.)
After warning me the costs ( I was a bit annoyed at the time thinking he was stating it was just a guinea pig, Realised once I left he was giving me an out if I couldn't afford the treatment.)
Pi has been shaved (now have a half skinny pig) and had x rays and scans, fortunately he was able to do this without GA, so that has reduced her risks. The vet showed me the xrays and talked through this mas in her body its about the size of a cherry tomato
.
on the plus side the vet was laughing at Pi when I picked her up saying for a piggie that is blatantly so sick (she looks like she is at full term). she is still very happy, eating drinking and running around like a pup, she decided to go for a run when trying to get her out the recovery pen (this is normal her nick name is houdini.)
She has been given painkillers just incase she is in pain.
He has referred her to a specialist in G'pigs a Vet called Dan in Swindon. They are currently unsure what it is, thy think maybe cysts but maybe something else!
Am currently feeling like the worst guardian in the world,
