I posted awhile back that Dahlia wasn't very food motivated. She would not come over to the bars to get treats, she would not get excited when people brought treats over for her, although she would eat them if you put them right in front of her. We got Dahlia in November and this behavior continued until about mid-April, when she suddenly started to get VERY excited about treats and would eagerly run over to the bars to get them.
Guys... I think it took Dahlia SIX MONTHS to figure out what we were doing when we showed up at the bars with food, despite how excited Misa would get. Once she figured out that we were giving her food, she liked it. For six months, I don't think she realized what we were doing there!
Dahlia flips the food bowl over several times a day... she used to stand on the edge when she was a baby no problem, but now she is a bit of a chunky monkey and she can flip it if she puts her full weight on one side. All our pigs did this as they got older, they learned not to flip the food bowl. Dahlia just... keeps on doing it. Repeatedly. Several times a day. For months.
Guys.... I'm starting to think Dahlia might be a little slow! LOL!
I've read various opinions that Abyssinian pigs can be a little flaky.... we haven't had that many aby pigs, but we have now had Frenzy, Dahlia, and Tomie I think might have had some aby blood too (she was mostly smooth, but had one weird off-centre rosette like an eyebrow on one side.) Those three were definitely our nuttiest, most easily perplexed pigs. Hmmmmm.....
