Hi all I have a five month old and a 7 week old female piggies. I give them quite a lot of hay each day I just replace it when they've finished it and also give twice a day spinach and cucumber. Am I feeding them too much? Advice needed please as I don't want to be over feeding them. TIA

Hay needs to be fed constantly (there always for the piggies to eat) to keep their teeth from over growing, losing weight and keeping their system moving. You may want to invest in different veg than spinach and cucumber, for example: romaine lettuce, bell pepper, coriander etc. I'm not sure if spinach can be fed everyday too. Cucumber is used for more as a treat by a lot of owners as it cools the pigs down during hot weather.

Thank you. The only problem I have is they won't eat any other vegetables I've tried carrot red pepper cabbage and they just won't touch it! Not tried coriander tho so will try that. May cut down on the spinach too. This is jack my five month old xx

He looks adorable xx like a teddy bear

Here are some good things to read for veg if you're interested. I'd keep in mind that some of these articles, even if a year or few months old, could include one or two outdated facts so best to look on various sites xx when I have it I feed coriander daily or every two days, two bits in the morning and two bits at night for one pig

spinach is high in calcium and oxalates, this should be fed occasionally, twice a month. It is considered if too much calcium can cause bladder stones. The research is inconclusive, but it is wise to not feed too often.:)

Young piggies take a long time to get used to new veg, I'd just reintroduce things and try lots of different types and I'm sure they'll eventually get used to them. Too much of one thing can often cause more harm than good unfortunately.

My first two only ate lettuce and cucumber when I first got them and just would not touch bell peppers. Now they love it and have it almost every day!

Think of them like children not eating their veggies, gotta be persistent and eventually they'll get the message! :))

I've also found eating a piece in front of them helped, I don't know if it was my imagination or not but they seemed to trust food more when they saw me eat it!
