What is an ideal daily feeding schedule for a guinea pig?

This is what I do now:

Morning:
1-2 leaves of lettuce

Evening:
1-2 leaves of lettuce
2 cucumbers
1 carrot
broccoli(ocassionaly)
parsely(sometimes)
apple(sometimes)
banana(rare)

I'm basically trying to see what is the ideal amount of lettuce, cucmber, carrot and so on of what I should give them. I worry they are over weight.
 
One is 2 and 4 months
The other is 3 and one month

Their weight... I'm not so sure. What can I weigh them on? :embarassed:
 
I weigh mine on a set of kitchen scales... you could also try bathroom scales just make sure they dont run off ;D
 
day and night mine have constant supply of hay and pellets, then they get fruit and veg morning and evening depending on what i have in.

today it will be apple, kale and a new type of cabbage ....(goes to see what it's called)............it's a 'sweetheart' cabbage not bought that particular one before. :)

i put my pigs in an old icecream tub and weigh them on digital kitchen scales.
 
Well

holly and meggie have veg in the moring and at night there have two veg each meal time and hay and dry food all the time

max and aflie the same as holly and meggie

but lilly amber poppy ruby have 3 veg each meal time with them beeing 4 in one cage
 
All the time, mine have a supply of dry food, water and hay, then they get fresh food in the evenings.

Last night they had;

cucumber, broccoli, savoy cabbage, banana and green tops from the carrot :)
 
Mine of course always have fresh water, pellets and hay.

I gave them two leaves of Romaine in the morning and night. At night along with that I usually give them a carrot now and then, parsely, cucumber, red pepper(sometimes)

How much Romaine should I be giving in a day?
What about cucumber? Is 2 slices okay in the evening? ANd should just one carrot be given in the night?

Don't be embarassed love, it's better to ask questions, and you obviously care for your piggies so O0 O0 O0
Keep offering a variety of veggies and fruits but not too much as you want them to eat the pellets and hay. We give our Duke fresh veggies and fruit twice a day, he has canteloupe, apple, grape, corn, cauliflower, spinach leaves, parsley, broccoli leaves and broccoli, celery leaves and celery with no stringy bits, watermelon, cucumber, this is most of his fav foods, but he only gets a little of each and then he eats his pellets too. Because he's a sick piggie with teeth problems he does get more of the soft stuff like the leafy veggies more than twice a day, but i'm careful cause if his poos become a little softer i know to reduce the amount of those veggies that cause this. I hope this makes sense to you and i hope it helps :)
 
Thats alot

Morning: top up nuggest and hay and maybe put abit of grass in

Dinner time: they usally come on my lap and get dandilions or go in the run

Tea: any 2 of these Pepers Celery apples carrots cucumba.

i dunno depends on there age... i give them 3 different things but not alot of it..Well put a bit in and if they eat it all gradually add more.
 
Oh right thanks daz, thats the only part i havent learnt about on here! i should start finding out about it!

I don't agree with that Daz. Age isn't a matter.

Some give their piggies a variety of 3 veggies, others more. It depends on what you're piggies like and will eat as well as what you can get hold of.

Mine have (not everyday, but in a week). Have a large handful of chopped and mixed veggies/fruit per pig each evening :)
cucumber
Greens
Cabbage
Beans
Melon
Apple
Banana
Broccoli and leaves
Cauliflower
Strawberry
Sweetcorn
Carrots and green tops

as well as dry food and hay

So in answer to your question, how many a day? Enough so they will eat them all up :)
