Dandelions

Boy, Willie sure did scare me this week as I bought him some nice dandelions from the grocery store like always, cleaned them and than hung them from his cage for him to eat. He usually gobbles them up pretty quickly however, this week he just left them there. I guess this must have been a bad batch or something cause when he was given cuccumber and carrot later this week he ate them like he was starving. I guess all dandelions aren't the same. Glad he is eating other veggies. I just couldn't believe that he wouldn't eat the dandelions being that those are his favorite veggie of all time.
 
Excel do dandelion and nettle sticks. Just bought some today and they loved them.
 
does any one else do them we dont have an excel, we have a pets at home opening soona dn jolleys but am sure never seen it there
 
Excel arent a pet shop they are a brand. They do the pellets and stuff. Supa guinea food. I got them in Scats. youhave one in Newport
 
I guess if I really needed to I could get them out of my yard since I don't treat my yard with any chemicals or anything. But I prefer to get them at the grocery store since they are usually pretty big and long in size when I get them from there. The ones in my yard are pretty pathetic looking but I guess over here in the states unless you know where to find the big ones in a field you might as well pay the $2.00 (us dollars) to get a huge bunch that lasts many days too. :) Hopefully the next bunch that I buy will be better.

overall, I have a very picky piggie who prefers to eat the following:

Spinach
Parsley
Dandelions
Carrots
Cuccumbers
Mixed Greens

He doesn't really prefer to eat any fruits though, not sure why but he has never really liked fruit unless it's a little apple or grape occassionally. Well, even though I try to give him variety sometimes it's not easy when he looks at the vegetable like what is this stuff?

thye do these now in Pets At home under the treats section. These are very good. all natural treats.

yes we do have a scats in Newport and with PAH opening soon will be able to get a few mroe treats for my babies thanks

The are great and nature. Mint, nettle and dandelion. they arent anymore are there?
 
Hello all,

Haven't been on for a while but read this topic with interest. My lot all adore fresh dandelion leaves (flower heads too) and I end up picking them in all weather but I would like to try them with other common meadow and hedgerow plants but don't want to experiment on them and make them ill (or worse)!

By the way Cutepeach - none of my pigs like fruit either - their favourites foods are dandilion, grass and cucumber (in that order).

Please let me know what other plants your pigs like as I like to ring the changes so they don't get bored!
 
Ours like all sorts...cucumbers, peppers, dandelions, green beans, rocket, basil, lamb's lettuce, grass, carrot, peas, watermelon, strawberries, celery (leaves and stalk), spinach, parsley, tomato, brocolli, cauliflower......everything lol! We also plant the little seeds left over from their food, they love the green wheat-y bits that grow!
